12/20 - Beehive Collective in Houston!
The Beehive Collective presents: MesoAmerica Resiste!--The struggle of diversity vs. homogenization in the Americas
Sedition is pleased to announce this appearance of the Beehive Collective in Houston. The Beehive has produced a series of amazingly intricate drawings that represent the struggles in the Americas using insects as an extended metaphor. The art is incredible but the politics behind the drawings is the real clincher! So come out and listen to Juan from the Beehive Collective. Bring $$ if you want to purchase posters or patches!
This graphic takes a critical look at Project Mesoamerica (formerly "Plan Puebla Panama")- a development plan designed to facilitate the exploitation of resources by corporate interests in Central America, and transform much of its land to create more "efficient" trade routes for global markets. This plan is a threat to the very survival of unique and important ecosystems and traditional cultures. The presentation illustrates many inspiring and successful examples of resistance to this top down development through horizontal community based organizing.
The Beehive's graphics tell stories of resource extraction, militarization, and development in Latin America, drawing clear connections between the colonial history of the Western Hemisphere and contemporary patterns of corporate globalization, violence, and racism. Using these graphics as a springboard for discussion, the Beehive Collective works to analyze and dismantle the forces at work in our capitalist society through a metaphorical lens of stories from the natural world.
For the past several years, Bees have been touring the Americas and Europe with their graphics. With enormous, highly detailed, hand illustrated portable murals, a six foot tall fabric storybook, and an engaging narrative, the Bees have awed and inspired audiences with a presentation intended to be understood by anyone - not just the experts and political analysts! http://www.beehivecollective.org/english/tour.htmSedition Books

Houston Anarchist Black Cross is in need of donations in the form of money, postage and/or fundraising events!
Twice a year HABC goes about publishing and distributing, free to prisoners, the newspaper Captive Voices. Captive Voices is a newspaper edited by a Texas prisoner containing news that is submitted for and by prisoners about radical issues/resistance pertaining to the Prison Industrial Complex, this is CV’s 17th edition and Houston ABC has been publishing this radical newspaper for over 5 years. We send CV to over 250 prisoners and other folks worldwide.
Currently we are in desperate need of money for postage and paper to continue with our distribution of this newspaper. We want to give a shout out to Houston Anti-Racist Action who donated enough money for us to mail out 50 issues, we still have more than a hundred to get mailed out.
Please contact us at www.myspace.com/houstonabc or firstname.lastname@example.org if you are willing to donate money, stamps, paper (white, 11x17) OR could help our three person collective by throwing a fundraising event.

COME ON OUT ON MAYDAY!
Call for Anti-capitalist & anti-authoritarian bloc @ Mayday immigrant rights march
In the spirit of May Day, Houston Anti-Racist Action is calling on the anti-capitalist/anti-authoritarian community to join the march for immigrant rights this Thursday, May 1st.
Immigrant workers are being rounded up in armed raids by federal agents, working families are being torn apart and terrorized. We must stand in solidarity with our working sisters and brothers from across the border who are under attack. We must not allow the bourgeois politicians and corporate media to divide the working class along lines of race, language or place of birth. Working class people from this country and from the south share a common oppressor, a common exploiter, and our only chance for victory lies in unity. An attack on one segment of the working class must be seen as an attack on us all.
May Day is historically our day, a day to celebrate the continued struggle of the international worker's movement. This May Day, we must rise to the challenges facing our class in our day in history. Meet at the Mickey Leeland Federal Building downtown, 1900 Louisiana, 2pm this May 1st; rally under the red & black flag to march with the anticapitalist bloc.

Amazon Rainforest Threatened: Defend it in Houston 2/8
The government of Peru is back in Houston this week to sell off more acres of remaining pristine rainforest to oil and gas companies - all with little regard for the many indigenous peoples who live there, nor for the extreme biodiversity of this ecosystem.
In Houston will also be indigenous leaders from the
Amazon who've travelled many miles to tell oil companies and the government: "No trespassing: The Amazon is Not for Sale." Will you also join us outside their meeting building?
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8th
12:30pm - 1:30pm
800 BELL STREET Street, PETROLEUM CLUB OF HOUSTON

We need you to come out with all the spirit and energy you can muster!

1/26 Protest Israeli blockage of Gaza
Demonstration this Saturday to voice opposition to the Israeli blockage of Gaza
Palestinians for Peace and the Irish Unity Committee have called for an emergency demonstration to protest Israeli blockage of Gaza and the acts of genocide against the Palestinian people. Palestinians continue to endure starvation, aerial bombings and Israeli army brutality.
The only power plant in Gaza has been shut down leaving the 1.5 million inhabitants without electricity, water or functioning medical facilities. We call for the United Nations to immediately demand Israel comply with International law and lift the siege on Gaza. Further we demand the establishment of an International Criminal Tribunal for Israel under UN Charter Article 22.
The purpose of the tribunal would be to investigate and prosecute Israeli crimes against humanity and genocide against the Palestinian people.
